No namby-pamby paintball guns for this sentry robot!
Slashdot, “where roboguard shoppers look for Calvin's Christmas gift ideas“, tell us about a quintessential sentry gun that uses an airsoft gun, some hobby servos and a webcam. A camera automatically identifies and tracks targets.
The robotic sentry gun, built by Aaron Rasmussen and his brother Ezra, will pan and tilt. A simple controller effects two hobby servos. Aaron wrote custom software to watch the USB webcam and track targets. The gun is an airsoft replica of an FN P90 and fires 6mm BBs.
Wholly Intruder Alert, Bat-Bot! Slap that “sharp-eye” technology on a very quiet, patrol droid and you might be able cut down on the cost of Dobermans.
