Yahoo! News has an Associated Press story: Robot Helps Police Arrest Murder Suspect. Note: Pictured above is Star Wars’ ‘droid’ R2D2, rather than the robot mentioned in the news story.
Patricia Cornwell used such a cybernetic device in one of her novels years ago. In the story (Putnam, 1996), Lucy, the niece of the protagonist Kay Scarpetta, has developed a robot for the FBI to be used in hostage situations.

So, a question for the U.S. cyberlawyers in the audience, once a suspect has been informed of her / his rights, according to the Miranda decision, does that include the monitoring of subvocalization?
