Multi-junction photo voltaic cells made with a single system of Indium Gallium Nitride alloys show great promise.
I followed Big Gav to the weblog of Tom Konrad, Ph.D., independent investment adviser. Doctor Konrad has a post entitled “Top Ten Technologies for an Alternative Energy Future“.
He assigned the #1 position to compact fluorescent light bulbs. The Big Gav was dubious about #9 on the list — solar chimneys. Absent from the list, conspicuously so, were photo voltaic panels, especially those thin film, multi-junction ones, like with what Boeing Spectrolab achieved over 40% efficiency recently.
